How scoring works

Core mechanics
- Only a tile sharing an edge with the empty cell can move, so repositioning the gap is part of every sequence.
- Each legal move swaps one image tile with the gap without rotating or changing the tile itself.
- The puzzle is solved only when all eight tiles occupy the image's target order before the timer expires.
Common failure causes
- Moving a correctly placed top-row tile to reach the lower board undoes earlier progress.
- Chasing the target tile without first routing the empty cell creates extra moves and repeated cycles.
- Trying to place the final tiles independently ignores that their order must be changed through a shared rotation.
How to recover a difficult position
If a solved row is disturbed, stop working on the lower target and restore that row before proceeding. Route the gap around the unsolved region, cycle the needed tile into position, and keep the completed row outside the movement loop.
